Ruth Snyder, NNP

Ms. Snyder participates in both clinical and research activities in the NICU.  She serves on the Pediatric Pharmacy & Therapeutic Committee for Goryeb Children’s Hospital and is an active member of the Breastfeeding Task Force and Developmental Care Committee in the NICU.  She is also the Discharge Planner and Patient & Family Representative on the Practitioner Leadership Team; where her focus is on improving the discharge process and ensuring parent satisfaction.  Ms. Snyder is the Academy of Neonatal Nurses (ANN) Executive Committee, whose mission is to provide quality neonatal education and programs to neonatal care staff in order to advance knowledge and provide superior patient care.

Most recently, Ms. Snyder’s research activities have been focused on improving neonatal nutrition. Specifically, she has investigated the administration of oropharyngeal colostrum, used body fat measurements to assess postnatal growth, worked to develop standardized nutrition protocols to promote lean growth, and studied markers of protein metabolism in premature infants. She regularly presents her work nationally and publishes her findings.
