Dr. Pollaro has spent his career caring for infants in New Jersey and enthusiastically joined the team at MANA in 2019. However, his tenure at MANA started years prior, when he trained and conducted research alongside several members of our group. Dr. Pollaro remains committed to medical education at MANA and plays a key role in our resident’s educational experience. Previously, he served as one of the associate program directors for the pediatric residency program. Today he continues to help with coordinating resident schedules, designing the neonatal curriculum, and working with our pediatric trainees as a mentor.
Dr. Pollaro is also our group’s subject matter expert on EPIC, the electronic health record system used nationwide. He now serves as the Pediatric Clinical Informaticist for the Department of Pediatrics at Atlantic Health System. In this role, he leverages his Epic expertise and physician builder credentials to bridge the gap between physicians and EMR colleagues, ensuring the platform is well-suited and fine-tuned for both neonatal and pediatric use system wide.
In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Pollaro is also interested in improving outcomes for infants with neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome (NOWs). His previous work examined whether normal neonatal growth and body composition are altered in NOWs infants, and whether these markers can be used to inform treatment decisions.
