Following a distinguished neonatal nursing career, Ms. Baxam became the first African American NNP in the State of NJ. She then went on to earn postgraduate certificates in both Biomedical Health and Public Law and Health Information Management. Her educational accomplishments and diverse clinical experience have made her an invaluable member of our MANA team.

Ms. Baxam has served as a nurse liaison to the Department of Children Protection and Permanency (DCPP), where she was responsible for bridging the educational gap between the hospital care team and foster families identified to care for medically fragile newborns. She has served on the Perinatal Bereavement Committee at OMC and participates in data collection/management projects related to Vermont Oxford Network and EPIC. She mentors residents and NNP students and conducts Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) education annually. Ms. Baxam is a leader in the exclusive breast-feeding support group for black women and spearheads the breast milk donor program for ELBW infants at OMC. Esther is a lifelong learner and dedicated practitioner.
