Dr. Richard Polin Director, Division of Neonatology Professor of Pediatrics Columbia University Medical Center, New York, NY A dinner lecture to discuss the lack of clinical evidence for ligation of the patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) in the asymptomatic infant, the risks associated with ligation of the ductus arteriosus (including bronchopulmonary dysplasia and adverse neurodevelopmental outcomes), and the equal efficacy of indomethacin and ibuprofen for the pharmacologic closure of the PDA.
